CONTRACTORS

Main Contractors
Main contractor is one of the two parties involved in a building contract. He has overall responsibility to construct the building including control of sub contractors and suppliers.

Sub Contractor
A person or a firm employed to carry out a part of the building construction.

Electrical Installation

Nominated Sub Contractor
A sub contractor selected by the Architect to carry out specialist work on the site.

Non-Nominated Contractor
A sub contractor selected by the contractor to carryout specialist work on the site. (Domestic sub Contractor)

CONTRACT DOCUMENTS

As they are used for tendering and construction contract documents are precise and detailed. They include working drawing, detail drawings, specifications, and bills of quantities, contract forms and tender forms. The preparation of contract documents is a highly complex technical process and they define and co-ordinate a wide range of engineering and building constructions, building parts and mechanical, electrical and various other services and are accompanied by estimates of cost.

The architect and his design team prepare these documents with reasonable care. Yet, there could be modifications as the construction proceeds.
