Close Couple Roof

The results from the introduction of horizontal members to tie together the feet of each pair of rafters & prevent their outward spread. These could be used in buildings where the span does not exceed 4m.

Collar Roof

In this roof tie members are used at a higher level than the feet of the rafters which are referred to as collars. These are used for spans up to 5.0m.

In this type an additional member called Purlin is used. This type is used for spans exceeding 5m.

The sizes of binders, rafters and purlins are dependent upon the load to be carried by the roof.
