Partitions

A partition is a non-structural wall used to separate rooms.

Types of Partitions

01. Traditional

This includes

i. Brickwork
ii. Blockwork
iii. Timber and metal stud works with board linings.

These are good in heat and fire resisting, and also this is a cheap option. But these are not relocatable and are messy to take down. They are ideal to be used at escape routes and service areas.

02. Frame

This could either be a frame that holds a layer of sheet material on each side or a frame, which holds a panel. The frame could be steel or timber. Sheet materials when used in frame partitions are sound insulators but panels are not.

These are good for conversion works.

03. Panal These are expensive but neater than other systems.

The panels are made with edge details that are locked together. They fit into a ceiling and floor track. These could be custom made or could be bought from market as standard units.
