WINDOW TREATMENTS

If you are living with old-fashioned curtains think of these exciting possibilities.

Painted Window Frames
Blinds
Stand alone Swags
Unadorned lacy sheers.

If you want a fresh look with draw curtains try with new colours and fabrics and a slight change of style. Window dressing is somewhat similar to picture framing for attractive views. If you are not satisfied with the view you have blur it with a soft fabric that does not cut out all the light.

Soft fabrics are what suit Sri Lanka climate. They do not trap the heat inside. Heavy drapes and elaborate window treatments can overpower the décor and make the room smaller. Besides it is costly to maintain great expanses of drapery.

Blinds are versatile for a variety of looks. With them there seems to be a style to fit almost any setting. To fit any window Roman blinds can be custom made, in any colour. But if they are wider then 135cm they may be too heavy to pull up.

The best sun blocks could be mini blinds. They are durable and easy to clean. At bathrooms where curtains may go limp and mildews they could be efficiently used. They could also be used in kitchen where curtains could get grimy with grease.

If you want the ceilings look higher use drapes instead of blinds. But remember you have to update the drapes with fashionable fabrics and styling.

Drapes and curtains must kiss the floor or hang well below the windowsill to look nice, other wise it will look skimpy.
