Balastores
These are old fashioned, but charming and cheap. Made out of treated paper fiber they allow plenty of light to filter in. The top wooden lath could be screwed to the ceiling or wall. The fixing lath is 2 in / 51 mm wider than the actual blind.

Pleatex
These also are made out of paper. They are available in orange, green, parchment and blue. Pleatex is cheaper than roller blinds. Sizes are from 2' x 2'6' (610mm x 760 mm) drop to 10' wide by 8' 6" (3m x 2.5m drop)

Venetian
Venetian blinds are made of wood, plastic or metal. They are available in variety of sizes with any length of drop. When the slats are slim the blind looks more like it. In some Venetian these slats may be noisy when there is wind. These regulate the light coming into your room. They are good heat controllers too. When they are closed, the blinds keep light away very effectively. These should be dusted oftenly for the sake of appearance.

Wooden
Blinds These are very expensive but long lasting. They could be stained to suit your needs. They permit worm and agreeable light in.

Louvers
These are made out of many types of wood. They could be stained or painted. There are a multiplicity of shapes, sizes, widths and depths of louvers. These could be used in sides of French windows, for cupboard or storage doors etc.

Screens
If you are concerned about your privacy you can fix a screen to your bedroom window. Screens could be ceiling mounted with the help of a track. They could be hanged in front of windows, round a bay, over storage or could be used to partition your home.
