Shrubs

Flowering shrubs are a major material in garden designing. They contribute both to the framework and to its interior decoration. Shrubs can also be used to form sculptural groups either by themselves or combined with other types of plants.

Climbers

These has a smothering effect which can be valuable in covering ugly structures and banks but which is death to good architectural elevations. But there are some climbers, which used in right place can become on adjunct of the architecture.

Water

Water is another design element you can use in your garden. It's has been adapted by each country according to its needs and climate. You can use water in two different forms.

01. Moving Water
02. Still Water

Whatever the form be used, water gives a unique sense of space and unity. In a hot climate like Sri Lanka water never is too much. It could be sprayed and dripped, flowed in cascades and could be shot into air in a pattern. The sound, the sight, the smell of the damp sprayed air is all refreshment from the heat. But in a cool damp climate this could be disturbing.

A still water pool could be effectively used to create attractive reflections. Successful reflection depends upon the correct placing of the water in relation to the object to be reflected and the eye of the observer. This is a matter, which could be worked out in sections. It must be remembered that the angle at which the line of sight strikes the water equals the angle of reflection. If you wish to make reflections on water you must be careful enough to keep the water surface clean. This could be done with the following detail.
