Electricity

If your plot of land is supplied with electricity check whether the supply load is sufficient for your needs. If the land does not have electricity you may have to separately obtain a connection and pay additional amounts depending on the distance. Consider all these when you are deciding on the price. If you are in doubt, it is always advisable to check with the authority responsible for the maintenance of power supply. Check whether there is a possibility for the local authority supplying power in the near future. Check for the approximate time it will take.

If needed, you can apply for a temporary work site power connection to facilitate the construction project.

Telephone
It is favorable if your land is within an area, which is supplied with telephones. If not check for the possibilities of future plans for the provision of telephone connections.

Though the lines may be available, the number of loops allocated for the particular area in concern may be limited. Check for this factor in particular. If you are using mobile phones check whether your land is in a mobile service area.

Water Supply

You will have your freedom to decide upon your source of water supply when you build your new home, if main supply is available. The options are ground water and main supply. But if the quality of the ground water is poor it is advisable to go for the main supply. In such an event, you will first have to check whether there is water supply up to the land or what are the possibilities of obtaining such a supply. Find which authority is responsible for the supply of water and maintenance of public mains.

If you are not thinking of using well water, depending on certain circumstances, you will have to get the supply of water before you start construction. Don't forget to build a sump for the storage of water or you might have to temporarily halt your construction work if there is a termination of water supply.
