Floors
Hardboard sub floor with a vinyl tiles or sealed plywood squares
will suit. Easy maintenance should be criteria before you decide
on any surface. If your room were air conditioned, carpeting would
also be a good option to select.
Ceilings
Choose the most dominant colors in your scheme and paint a band
of that color around the edge of the ceiling or pick out the ceiling
cornice if there is one. Finish the inner edge with a narrow band
of mirrored or colored stick tape to blend. Don't stick to what
is written, try your own ideas.
Windows
The basic issue in designing a bedroom window is how to provide
privacy to the room without disturbing the penetration of natural
light and air. In such a case you can try curtains. In the market
following types are available.
1. Net curtains
2. Terylene
3. Lace cotton
4. Muslin blind
You can even use Indian sari or printed chiffon scarves sewn together
as your bedroom curtains. The curtains should be thick enough
to cover the daylight penetration in total when you want to sleep
during daytime.
Also think about using tinted glass, opaque Perspex, or mirrored
paper for the glass. Stained glass window is also a less expensive
option. In providing privacy, they are excellent daylight filters
cum view obscurers. To create a stained glass window, paste the
inside of the glass with ordinary wallpaper and build up a pattern
overlapping and re-pasting as necessary.
