The bath
A
both according to British standards are 5 ft. 6 in/1.7 m long,
2 ft. 4 in/711 mm wide and 24-in/610 mm high. Unless you are exceptionally
tall and long-legged, you can't reach the end with your feet if
you want to lie back and read. Some baths are only 3 ft. long,
in which case you have to sit on one level and have yours feet
lower down. There are also corner units available in the market.
Cast iron and steel baths
They
are the hard wearing and good looking of all baths. These are
hard to find in today's market. Instead vitreous enameled steel
is available.
Acrylic
baths
Baths could be made out of thick
acrylic sheet or synthetic resins, reinforced with glass fiber.
Both kinds demand rigid steel frames to hold them. The supplier
provides this steel frame to you. They are lightweight and easy
to handle and are available in few colours
Panels
Today,
baths are made to be built-in. As a part of their integral design
some have panels. Your supplier will supply you with standard
hardboard panels with chrome corners. If the bath is to be raised
from the floor you can fit a large drawer with the help of these
panels underneath.
Tap
positions
You
should specifically show the positions where you need the taps
to be fixed. Most baths have taps at the plug end, but it is not
a must. Always remember to allow for concealing the plumbing behind
a false well or having the pipes chased into the plaster.
Custom
made baths
If
you really want your bath to be very special you can order a tailor
made fiberglass bath, which is built like a miniature swimming
pool.
